So thankful today – Not my usual type of post for this blog…

I know this isn’t my usual type of post, but here goes:

I met an awesome lady today. She’s 39, just shy of 1 year older than me, and has metastatic breast cancer, which has spread to the brain. Other than seeing her head, bald from the chemo & radiation, you would NEVER know it. This lady is so positive, upbeat, and totally brightens up the room when you walk in. She has a long road ahead, and is joyful just to be alive. She’s a fighter for sure and no matter her prognosis, I pray that she can beat this.

I don’t care what your religion or beliefs are, or who, or what you’re praying to, or burning a candle for, please send one up for this lady. She’s so amazing! (Unfortunately, I can’t give her name because it’s related with my day job and I can’t violate privacy rules)

On the drive home, I was thinking about the problems a lot of us face with bills/finances, family & friend drama, but at the end of the day, we have a roof over our head [even though it might not be a mansion], food on the table [even if it is rice & ramen], transportation [even if it is a hoopty], and if you’re reading this, internet access [even if you’re at Starbucks] – and if you’re there, thankfully, you can afford Starbucks!

Maybe we can’t go on that vacation, buy that iPad, or afford to dine out, but for the most part, we all have our health, and so much more to be thankful for.
